Rochelle lived a full, productive, Christian life, and was filled with love and generosity that will be missed by many. She was born March 27, 1941 in Port Arthur Texas to Jacob Harris Rockwell and Kathryn Brasher Rockwell. Her early years were spent in Port Arthur Texas until her father‘s death in 1957. Her mother and her brother, George Walter (Rocky), moved to Abilene in 1958. Rochelle graduated from Abilene Christian High School. Through the years she received a bachelors of science in special education, a masters in special education , and a medical degree from the University of Texas. Rochelle practiced in Baytown, Padre Island, Palestine, College Station and Hawaii. She loved to travel and used her God given gifts and talents of caring for others on her many Christian mission trips to Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Haiti, Syria, Egypt, and Moldova. Rochelle also taught English as a second language to Muslims & Hispanics.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Harris Rockwell and mother, Katherine Brasher Rockwell.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Anne Dunham and her husband Richard of Kingwood and her son, James Ryan Owens, and his wife Laura and children, Ian and Zoe of Round Rock; Grand children, Caitlin King and her husband Jayce of Cypress, Stephanie Owens of Dallas, Gunnar Owens of Austin, Roxanne Owens of Dallas; Great grandchildren, Ellie and Mackenzie King, her brother George Walter Rockwell and his wife Vicki; nephews, Brian Rockwell, Keith Rockwell and his wife Allison, their children Eden and James, niece, Leanne Taylor and her husband Ron, their daughter Sarah.
Family and friends were always a high priority in her life. She loved having her family around her. She was a devoted and active member of Second Baptist Church. She loved Jesus with all of her heart. Her hobbies included serving others, painting, gardening, bird watching and anything else in nature.
Rochelle will be deeply missed by those close to her but we know that going to Heaven was her ultimate goal and we rejoice and are confident that she has attained that goal.
The family would like to thank her many devoted friends and a special thanks to her long time friend Lou Cerney, who remained her devoted companion to the end.
