Born in Yorktown Heights, NY in 1928, he was the youngest of 4 siblings with his brothers Harold Gordon and Hamlin predeceasing him, and his sister Abby, 99 surviving.
Bob was educated in the Yorktown school system and graduated from Swarthmore College with a degree in engineering. He served in the Army for 2 years before starting a 44-year career as a civil engineer with Turner Construction. He was proud of all his projects throughout the US.
His sister Abby served as matchmaker and Bob met the love of his life, Joan Little, in his mother’s kitchen. His young nephew suggested he marry her and he did, starting a family in Ossining, NY. He is survived by daughters Donna (Tom) Turco and Kathy (Jerry) Evans. A proud “Beebah” he leaves behind 5 Turco grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Kevin, Valerie and Nicholas and 8 Evans’ fur babies. Bob is also survived by his great grandchildren, Lance, Marissa, Chevy, Clark, Catarina and Malcolm as well as beloved nephews and nieces.
Bob enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states and overseas with Joan. In retirement, he loved his home at Sleepy Hollow Lake, spending quality time with his family and friends. Quiet by nature, he was best at sharing stories when playing cards (while winning) or working on a home project. He enjoyed being outside and caring for his home, mowing his 2-acre property until he relocated to Texas in 2018. In his retirement community there, he was known as the ‘puzzle man” putting his engineering skills to use on difficult puzzles.
