Richard “Dick” Alan Osborne, 79, died Tuesday, March 30, 2016, after a long courageous battle with cancer. His family was with him by his bedside as they watched him take his last breath. Richard was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 14, 1937, to the late Howard David Osborne and Mary Francis Kladden Osborne. He was also preceded in death by his brother, John David Osborne. Richard was raised in Lynwood, California, where he graduated from Lynwood High School. He attended college in Long Beach, California, and then was awarded a marketing degree from the University of Houston. Richard began working with Baker Oil Tools in California and was eventually transferred to Houston, Texas, in 1977. He retired from Baker Hughes after a long career in planning and marketing. Richard married the love of his life, the beautiful Joan Louise Edmondson, on March 24, 1956. Their marriage was one full of unconditional love for each other and their family. They started their young life in Lakewood, California, and together raised four children. Richard had a passion for sports and he excelled in many he played, but his favorite was golf. He won many tournaments at Kingwood County Club, one being the Seniors Champions in 1991. Unfortunately, he had to give up his love of the game as his health started to fail in the early 2000’s. Richard felt very blessed to have a big family of four wonderful children, five grandkids and one great granddaughter. He was looking forward to seeing what the future holds for all of them. His hope was to be in remission and visit the family in California. Richard is survived by his wife, Joan Louise Osborne; children, Rick Alan Osborne and his wife, Erika Osborne, of Pleasanton, Texas, Curt Michael Osborne and his wife, Melissa Miller Osborne, of Thousand Oaks, California, Pamela Osborne Beckert and her husband, Donald Martin Beckert, of Kingwood, Texas, and Steve Randall Osborne of Atascocita, Texas. He also leaves his five grandchildren, Makenzie Keeney Long and her husband, Garrett Long, of Brea, California, Kaitlyn Nicole Beckert, Kyle Martin Beckert, Kevin Alan Beckert and Madison Monroe Osborne; and one great granddaughter, Nixin Olivia Long. He is also survived by his nephew, Jay Osborne and his wife Lisa Osborne, along with all of his other nieces and nephews in California as well as his beautiful sister-in-law, who was more like a sister to him, Mary Lucille Edmondson Long.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Chapel of Kingwood Funeral Home.
