Reba was born in Tampa, FL to the late Everett and Donnie Lucas. As a child of a United States Air Force officer, she spent much of her youth moving from place to place, a trend that continued into adulthood. Over her life she lived in 19 towns in 7 states. A highlight of her early teen years was living in England, a time that sparked her love for travel and exploration. She often spoke of the friendships she made there.
After graduating from Folsom High School in Folsom, CA in 1964, she married and later moved to Houston, TX where she raised her family. Reba was the beloved mother of Connie Willett and Andrea Collins, and a proud grandmother to David Hogge and Abbigail Collins. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, her siblings Lourie Shartzer, Jane Houston and Brad Lucas, and many nieces and nephews.
Reba worked for Gulf Oil Company in Houston, TX for 10 years as an administrative assistant in the tax department. In 1985 she transferred to Chevron’s corporate offices in San Francisco, CA where she was a coordinator for their real estate tax credit program.
Outside of work, she loved to travel when she could, and her home was covered with photos from her many trips with family and friends. She especially loved returning to Europe to revisit the experiences from her youth.
Reba’s spiritual life was important to her, and her Christian faith played a central role in her life. She explored many different paths in her relationship with God, always seeking a deeper understanding and connection.
While her presence will be greatly missed, Reba leaves behind a legacy of love, gratitude, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Reba’s life will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home in Kingwood, TX on March 24 at 10:30 AM.
