Michael was born in Teague, Texas to Walter and Temple Brown on December 7, 1950. He graduated class of 1969 from Teague High School and attended Navarro Junior College and Southwest Texas State University. He worked in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years, starting as a right of way “land man”, eventually moving into a management position. He married his wife Lisa Turner Brown on September 14, 1985 and were married for 32 years before Lisa’s passing in 2018.
He was a dedicated member of Prairie Grove Baptist Church throughout his youth, helping his father with the bus outreach ministry that he led, driving the bus at times to pick up local kids to bring them to church. He later was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, were he served as usher, youth small group leader, and member of care groups and men’s small groups. His faith in Christ was and inextricable part of who he was, and his example showed many how to humbly live for God. Michael was also very dedicated to his work, and more importantly, to those he worked alongside. His way of public speaking and warmth as an individual leaves a lasting legacy that those who worked with him will not soon forget. He was charismatic and gracious, filling every room he occupied with joy and levity. Mike was happiest when spending time with those he loved, hanging by the pool with his kids and beloved granddaughter, sharing laughs and stories. To have his boys and their families all together making memories was where he found peace, and those who knew him will always find peace and joy in his memory.
