Joe was born to Joseph and Mary Dutko on May 2, 1940 in Pittsburg, PA. As a child, he excelled in school and was on the varsity team for gymnastics and swimming. He got his teaching degree from Slippery Rock State University and received his Masters from the University of Wyoming. He spent the next 35 years teaching physics at Carson High School in Carson, CA.
Joe met his wife, Judy Scott, in 1963. They married two years later on August 24, 1965 and were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Tania and Kelly. Family and faith were central to his life. Reading, painting, pottery and jewelry making were some of his past times and many memories were made through camping and family vacations. After retiring, Joe and Judy focused on filling up their passports by traveling the world. Having spent 20 enjoyable years retired in the mountains of Prescott, Arizona, they moved to Houston, Texas two years ago to be closer to family.
Throughout his entire life, Joe held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. He was involved in many church activities throughout the years as well as volunteering in the local community. Many charities were dear to his heart.
Joe joins his parents and sisters, Margaret, Barbara and Joanne, in Heaven. He is survived by his brother Bob, sisters Lil, Cathy and Theresa, wife Judy, daughters Tania (Daniels) and Kelly (Brock), sons-in-law Jeff and Ray, as well as his eight grandchildren, Grace, Rachel, Rebecca, Nathan, Sarah, Melanie, Emily and Josiah, and hundreds of friends who love him.
Those who knew him are confident that when he arrived in heaven, he heard the words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
