John Edward Quinn Jr, 78, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away on November 5, 2024, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his daughter Meghan Hadjioannou and her husband John, his son John Quinn III and his wife Sara, and his grandchildren George, Clara, Jack, Collin, and Owen.
Born in Long Beach, California in 1945, his family moved to Pennsylvania when he was a baby. John grew up in the Philadelphia area with his parents Margaret and John, as well as his two brothers Austin and Terry. John attended Providence College and graduated in 1967. John then enlisted in the Army and served a two-year tour in Vietnam as a First Lieutenant. He received multiple honors in the Army including a Purple Heart for shrapnel injuries in the battlefield.
In 1969 John married his college sweetheart Carole Mulcahy. They were married for 51 years until she passed away in 2020. John eventually received his MBA from Drexel University. He went on to have a career as an accountant in the Northeast. A job as the Chief Financial Officer with Transworld Oil and its affiliates brought his family to Houston, Texas in 1989. John remained with that company until he retired in 2005.
John had many interests outside of his professional career. He loved playing golf, reading about United States and world history, watching sports, traveling with his wife, enjoying good restaurants and collecting wine. You could find him at Kingwood Country Club every weekend, playing a round of golf with his friends and family. A dedicated father and husband, John would go above and beyond to gather and spend time with his family. He provided countless memories for his children and grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life for John will be held in Kingwood at The Clubs of Kingwood on November 20, 2024, from 4:30 – 7:30 pm. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project.
