So sorry to hear about Mr. Pickering.  I have such wonderful memories of spending the night at your beautiful Pickering home with Jennifer! I just learned of John's death through the newsletter of the Civil War Round Table.  I enjoyed very much working with him, and I will miss him.  Please accept my condolences.

John was one of my oldest friends, dating back to Fair Park High School days.  He was my mentor as well, encouraging me to go into civil engineering.  Even though we lived many miles away from each other, we kept in touch through the years.  I will always remember his quick wit, his deep faith, and his remarkable intelligence.  Mattie and I will always remember him and keep Patty and the children and grandchildren in our prayers.  May God bless all of you.

My prayers are with all of the Pickering Family in this time of your loss and sorrow. I keep with me many happy memories of John, his sense of humor, integrity, intellect, but most importantly his caring nature.  Time will help heal the pain you have in your heart now.  Just remember all the wonderful times you spent with him and those memories will carry you through.
