John Paul Cegelski, age 58, left his earthly home in Kingwood, Texas, to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. John was born on July 3, 1964, in Houston, Texas to parents, Benedict Christopher Cegelski and Dorothy Stolarski Cegelski. John was proud to be a born and raised Houstonian. He attended St. Augustine Catholic School, Deady Junior High and Milby High School. He was an amazing athlete and earned a scholarship to play baseball at Blinn Junior College for two years. Following Blinn he attended Rice University on a baseball scholarship and graduated from Rice with a Bachelor Degree in Managerial Studies and Political Science. He was a member of St. Martha Catholic Church, and also often attended Second Baptist Church. He loved and supported all of Houston’s professional sports teams, especially the Astros. He loved his work at Apache Corporation where he spent the last 12 years of his career as a global HR specialist. Most of all he loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends.
John had a quiet strength and always approached life with humility, courage and a can-do attitude. He was noble and pure of heart, quick to encourage those who were down and lend a helping hand to those in need. He was intelligent, patient, funny, honest, a wise councilor, steadfast, practical, thoughtful, slow to anger, deliberate in his actions, reliable, playful, and hard-working. He would light up a room when he walked in and stay to the end of any gathering he attended.
John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cathy Cegelski; son, Brit Fisher; daughter, Kate Cegelski; daughter, Madi Cegelski; son, Ben Cegelski; son, Cam Cegelski; sister and brother-in-law, Cassandra and Raymond Wilkerson; brother, Ben Cegelski; brother and sister-in-law, Tiko and Julie Cegelski; sister-in-law, Emily Cegelski; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kent and Jo Felty; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill Kent and Becky Felty; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Jessica Felty, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nana and PawPaw; his brother, Greg Cegelski; and his sister-in-law, Donna Cegelski.
