Jeremy Mitchell Sanford was born in Victoria Texas, March 11, 1986. He is survived by his parents, Byron and Rhonda Sanford, brother Jason and his wife Nicole, Aunt Cindy and her husband Red Escamilla and was a beloved uncle to both Eisley and Nolan Sanford. He was beloved by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, all residing in or near the Houston area. His grandparents, Bob and Vesta Willie reside in Rockport Texas, and his deceased grandparents Betty and Hershel Sanford, all loved and cherished him greatly.
Jeremy worked as a gifted teacher and coach at Trinity, Nederland, Humble, and Pasadena ISD, as well as Beaumont Legacy Christian Academy, and was currently teaching at LaPorte ISD. Jeremy graduated from Lamar University with a degree in General Studies with an emphasis in Social Studies. He later completed his M.Ed. and Administration from Lamar.
Jeremy was a Star Wars junkie with various memorabilia and some impressive Lego-displays, demonstrating his knack for putting things together. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Houston Astro fan, often demonstrating his love-hate relationship with both teams over the years. His personality was wonderful and often noted by all he came in contact with. He made friends wherever he went, and was a defender of the outcast, an advocate for the kids that society may have mistreated. He was saved at the age of 11, along with his brother Jason, at a revival in El Campo Texas. He befriended people from all cultures and ethnicities so easily, it was a demonstration of his love for Jesus and his care and concern for the unfortunate.
He was adventurous and in his many travels with the Teter family, made his way into their hearts as an adopted uncle to Ben, Molly, Thomas, and Nicholas. His prowess in UIL Academic contests was well-noted. It was during those trips he formed numerous long-time relationships, and the thoughts and comments we have heard over the years indicate he was much loved and appreciated. His middle name, “Mitchell”, came from his father’s favorite uncle, Mitchell Lee Dennis, who was a teacher, coach and administrator in the Marlow area of Oklahoma. His demeanor, looks, and career path were very similar, including the fact that both were single, never married, no kids and went to see the Lord before “their-time”.
Jeremy loved the Lord with all his heart, and his faith had an impact wherever he went. He is greatly missed, and we all recognized how blessed we are by his life!
