Visitation for Jack Candler Searcy Jr., age 94, of Porter, Texas, will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Kingwood Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas. Interment will be Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Houston National Cemetery.
Mr. Searcy was born on May 26, 1928 in Lewisville, Arkansas, to parents, John (“Jack”) Candler Searcy and Dorothy Nell Sandford. He passed away on October 15, 2022 in Porter, Texas.
Mr. Searcy was a member of Northwoods Presbyterian Church and the State Bar of Arkansas. He enjoyed volunteering for the Northwest Chamber of Commerce and various local committees for transportation and water supplies. He was a past president of the Memorial Northwest Homeowner’s Association and his local Municipal Utility District board. He was also a past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Methodist Hospital Willowbrook. His volunteer work left little time for hobbies.
Mr. Searcy was a 1950 graduate of the University of Arkansas College of Law, and was licensed as an attorney in Arkansas. He spent his career in the energy industry, starting as a petroleum landman and eventually becoming Supervisor of Contracts and Division Orders for Marathon Oil Company. He retired in 1990. He was an Army veteran, having served as a JAG officer with the 5th Armored Division during the Korean War.
He is survived by his two sons, Jack Candler Searcy III and Robert Patrick Searcy, daughter-in-law, Diana Searcy, grandchildren, Kendel Marie Searcy, Jack Candler Searcy IV, and Mackenzie Diana Searcy, and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Joyce Searcy-Hanna. He is also survived by several brothers- and sisters-in-law and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his only brother, William Beville Searcy, and his wife, Joyce Ely Searcy.
