Donald Dee Williamson was born on December 10, 1941 in Pasadena, Texas, to Donald Dee and Amber Williamson. He was a 1960 graduate of Milby High School where he led the Bison baseball team to the state tournament as a pitcher. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and finished his degree in mathematics at the University of Houston. Don and former spouse, Candy, started out in Austin Texas, but came back to Houston so that he could begin his career as a data analyst with Houston Lighting and Power. Kimberly was born in 1967, and son Robert followed in 1970. Don and his family were one of the first to settle in the community of Kingwood, Texas, in 1972. Don ended his career as a leader in the rate and research department at Houston Lighting and Power and then in his retirement, he took classes to acquire the certifications he needed to start his second act as an analyst and dig site researcher for several University sponsored archeology projects throughout Texas. In his spare time, he coached youth softball and baseball for his kids, played golf, and completed several 5K and 10K races around the Houston area. He enjoyed traveling, motorcycle tours, camping, and his six grandchildren. He traveled to places like London, Australia, and the Panama Canal, but the mountains of Silverton, Colorado, remained his most beloved place to return when he could, setting up camp by the Animas River and riding his motorcycle along the treacherous mining trails of the Rocky Mountains. A trip to Scotland included a round of golf on The Old Course at St. Andrews thanks to his qualifying golf handicap. Don generously shared his mechanical and repair skills with family and neighbors in need; whenever there was a car battery to change or a ceiling fan to install, he was happy to get it done for you. He walked six or seven miles per day during most of his last years. He is survived by his former wife, Candy Neugebauer, of Waco, Texas; daughter, Kimberly Lemer of Kingwood; son Robert Williamson and wife, Piper, of Kingwood; sister Eileen Adanalian; and grandchildren Rachel, Sam, and Ashe Lemer, and Hayley, Cole, and Zoe Williamson. A gathering to celebrate his life is planned for Saturday, April 5th at the Oakhurst Golf Club at noon with great food to follow the service. The address for the club is 20700 Mills Branch Dr, Porter, TX 77365.
