Uncle Don was the BEST! I can still hear him saying “Hey Darling!” when I would answer the phone or call him. He would always ask for updated pictures so he could keep up with how the kids were growing, he was the family Almanac! I loved him for him and for the way he took care of Aunt Doris, my cousins, and their children.  He had a way of making you feel so loved and special. Even my maternal cousins called him Uncle.  As many have said, I never felt like he was an uncle by marriage.  I felt that he was in our family specifically to keep my daddy in line :0)). He and Nanny B were awesome at that.  He was a bonus “Papa” for my children more so than a great-uncle.  A teacher and role model for all of us.  The most gentle giant you could ever meet. His talents were limitless.  I don’t think it was a day that went by when daddy was in the hospital that he  didn’t call and check on us. 

Uncle Don, thank you for showing up to birthday parties, visiting us in the hospitals, calling just because, and for being such a great HU”MAN”.  I know you were welcomed with a standing ovation at those pearly gates. We LOVE you! Rest in Paradise.

As a kid, I remember a picture of you in uniform on the bookshelf at Aunt B’s house that would always catch my eye. I also remember visiting you and Aunt Doris in Philly, you were driving, the sun was beginning to set, I heard a faint musical noise you whipped the car into park and got out and popped the sharpest salute. I had NO idea what was going on, once it was over you got back in the car and explained, “To the Colors” to me. I can share more memories, but these two own a ton of real estate in my mind mostly because they played a part in the decisions I made early on. Thank you for having a positive impact on my life. I love you and I appreciate you… Rest in Power Uncle Don ❤️

It's soooo crazy how you were the stern disciplinarian that we all walked a straight line for as kids ,when you walked in the room. And we got to tease you as you became a grandpa and the grandkids made you a big softy ..Through it all you were a super great Uncle who always showed love and made us laugh. Soooo many memories I can't just pick one. If I had to pick a memory it would have to be the fact that you made your daughter's wedding gown. .not many daughters can say that...A real man ,a soldier, Dad, father uncle grandpa the list goes on. Rest in glory Unc...you will forever be in my heart...

Don was my favorite boy cousin.  Infact he was my ONLY boy cousin!   I have many memories of our growing up and he and his sister (Sandra) spending summers in Bonham, TX. One of my memories is of 
us playing in the sandbox that my dad built for us in the back yard. We invited his sister to play with us by saying "San come play in the sand." She was the "prissy " one and would never join us. I also liked climbing trees and riding my bike with him and his friends. He loved PB and Jelly sandwiches and always wanted   me to make them for him. I thought he could make his own, but to my dismay our grandmother would hear him and make me prepare the sandwiches for her "favorite" grandchild! I never let him forget that! 
I miss my cousin, the talks we had, the fun we had throughout our lives. I won't say goodbye, I will just say "see you later." (2nd Corinthians 5:1)

I was totally saddened & lost for words in hearing the passing of Mr. Don Coleman.  DeJuana & I became friends many years ago & the Coleman’s welcomed me with such kindness, what a great family. Sending my prayers & love to Mrs. Doris Coleman, Dejuana  & family. ❤️ 🙏🏽

Doris and Family, I am so very sorry for the loss of Don. You guys were so good to Iva and James while living next door. We all have so many good memories of the time y’all spent in Bonham. Take care of yourself and know you have friends that care. Much love Virginia and Susan Bowen

Don has been in my life as long as I can remember. He was like a big brother, I never felt as though I wasn't welcome in his company, even though my big brother and the other friends didn't want my tagging along.  Don was an excellent loving husband and a great father. I don't remember a conversation we had when he wouldn't mention his family. My prayer for the family will be for God to comfort you in His tender, loving care. 

Uncle Don wa a very talented and personable man with a quick wit and many skills. I recall that he could tailor a suit for a man as well as sew the most beautiful prom dresses and a wedding dress for his Daughter,  Dejuana. He married into a large family of great cooks, and he enjoyed the cuisine of Louisiana as much as we all did. I will truly miss my Uncle Don. 

Loved you more with each passing year...I'm so thankful that our last words to each other were "I love you"..forever in my heart... Racheal!!

Dad loved being on camping trips, mentoring young men on the ways of manhood. 

Dearest Coleman Family, Friends and Loved Ones,

I am truly sorry for your loss. My prayers are continually going up. May you be blessed with peace and strength in your time of grief. I believe the Lord has made a place for Mr. Coleman and he is now resting with Him in his new heavenly home. I  admired Mr. Coleman for the great man, husband, and father that he was. He had a wonderful, strong yet gentle spirit and he shared much love and wisdom with those in his circle. I found that he truly was a blessing for the short time that I had with him and I will remember and cherish that always. I sincerely thank him for the awesome memories, the love he shared freely and the many many laughs. He will be greatly missed by many.
