Born in 1921 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the fourth child, second son, of the late David and Anna Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Cora and Lillian, and his brother Hugh.
David enlisted in the US Army during WWII, served in Korea in the 1950’s where he was commissioned as an officer in the US Air Force, and retired in the early 1960’s as an Air Force Captain.
David married his wife Charlotte in 1942 in Fort Monroe, Virginia and she traveled with him during his military career – to Japan, Delaware, England, and finally Texas. She passed away in June 2016 after a brief illness.
David moved to Kingwood in 1983 and became a member of the Kingwood Christian Church. He was especially interested in antique and opened The Crack’d Pot antique store. He was also fond of animals, especially dogs, and was the owner of Fraser Pet Supply for several years. He joined the Masons in the early 1940s and was a member of the Virginia and Humble lodges for over 70 years.
David is survived by his son David, Jr and his wife Dianne; 3 grandchildren: David III (Melissa); Jason (Carla); and Laura (Rick); 5 great grandchildren: Jackson & Zoe Smith; Nicholas Medina; Ricky & Sam Frost; and loving nieces Julie Hale (Walter) and Gloria Armistead (Billy) and their extended families.

Visitation will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home on Sunday, June 4 from 3-5pm. A private interment is to be held at the Houston National Cemetery on June 6.
