Glen Daniel “Dan” Shaver, 65, of Kingwood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2012. Dan was born April 25, 1947 in Glendale, CA. He attended Cresenta High School in La Cresenta, CA. where he was a basketball standout, who went on to play at The University of Nebraska. This is where Dan met his future wife, Susan Devier. He later graduated from San Diego State University. Dan moved from San Diego to Houston, TX. in 1981 to work for James International. His passions were, deep sea fishing, golf, his dogs and most of all, his family. A man of his word, Dan was loyal to his values, his family, and his country. He instilled a strong work ethic in his children, and was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend to the end.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Daniel and Virginia Marie Shaver; sister, Sharon Abernathy. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan K. Shaver; children, Grant Shaver (Jeanna) of Lubbock, TX., Daniel Shaver (Karina) of La Costa, CA., Megan Dickson (Cole) of Grand Prairie, TX.; grandchildren who call him "Papa", Tanner Shaver, Claire Shaver, Sydney Dickson, Drew Dickson, Carly Dickson, Hudson Shaver and Marin Shaver; sisters, Marie Hall of Sunland, CA.; Lora Taylor (Harry) of Tacoma, WA.; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Kingwood United Methodist Church, 2901 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, TX 77339.
