Cort Henry Schmidt of Kingwood passed away on December 28th, 2022, at 16 years of age. Cort's surviving relatives are his mother, Melissa Elaine Chamberlain and her husband Daniel Chamberlain, Cort's father, Roy Allen Schmidt, his step sister Allison Chamberlain, and step brother Joshua Chamberlain.
Cort was an intelligent, witty, and funny kid that was always incredibly fun to be with and kind to all that he met. He excelled in school from an early age. While at Foster Elementary he was on the EcoBots team, and earned awards in Mathematics. In middle school he played the trombone and earned a spot on the NIL district band every year. At Kingwood Park High School he was enrolled in all Pre-AP and AP classes, and was on the eSports team. He accomplished all of this while maintaining a nearly all-A average. Throughout all this, he still maintained close relationships with his friends and family. He was truly a bright individual, both in and out of school.
Cort will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, and love for playing games. Games of strategy were his favorite, whether it was the online game Hearts of Iron, or simple board and card games with his family, such as Parcheesi or euchre. He cared deeply for his friends and family, and his joy, humor, and happiness will always be remembered and sorely missed.
