Cecilia Roberts passed away peacefully in Kingwood, Texas on December 17, 2012. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, September 22, 1924, the eldest daughter of John Edward and Mary Elizabeth Wright.
Cecilia grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland and graduated salutatorian of Seat Pleasant High School. She served as Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in Seat Pleasant. For many years she worked for the U.S. government at the Census Bureau and Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. Later, she worked as a Research Administrator at the Veteran’s Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Cecilia loved cruises, going on 53 in her lifetime. She enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, and keeping up with politics. She loved her family and friends, laughter, music, coconut cake and a bargain. For many years, she was active in the Elkettes, the Red Hat Society, and attended church in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Cecilia was a devoted caregiver to Charles Gordon Traband (husband) and Jack Roberts (husband) who both preceded her in death. Her sister Marian Irene Grayson also preceded her in death.
Cecilia leaves behind Jacqueline Kay Hercheck, sister, New Symrna Beach, Florida; her daughters Marcia Traband Nutzman (Robert) of Purcellville, Virginia and Karen Traband Crane (Robert) of Humble, Texas; grandchildren Kimberly Nutzman Kesler (Michael), Ronald Nutzman (Sherrie), Aaron Crane (Wendy) and seven great-grandchildren; Brooke, Kevin and Kyle Kesler; Benjamin and Christopher Nutzman; Ethan and Brady Crane.
Cecilia will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In the end, she completed an 88 year Journey of Life that touched many lives along the way. She may have passed away, but she will never be forgotten.
