Carlos Emmanuel Rivas, 19, of Cleveland, died on July 24, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born on November 9, 1997 in Houston, the son of Deborah and Carlos A. Rivas. He attended Pasadena and Splendora schools and graduated from Splendora High School in 2016. He was currently enrolled at Lonestar Community College and following in his mother’s footsteps by majoring in nursing and wanted to one day become an emergency room registered nurse.
Carlos was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Rivas; maternal grandparents, Patricia and Glenn Wilkinson and paternal grandparents, Jose Blas and Maria Luisa Rivas. He is survived by his father, Carlos Rivas; his brother Michael Castillo and sister Michelle Castillo-Hicks. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, a nephew and countless friends.
Carlos may have been intimidating in size but he truly was the biggest teddy bear anyone could ever meet and was loved by so many. His favorite pastime was listening to music and simply being around people and enjoying their company. Carlos was the bright light in so many lives and will surely be missed for his contagious smile and the way he would do just about anything to make someone laugh.
