Alan Lee Barber, Jr. passed away unexpectedly at the age of 39 in Houston, TX. Lee was born in Corsicana, TX and attended Corsicana High School. His early years were spent in Angus, TX out in nature, fishing, camping and hunting with his cousin. Lee looked forward to the annual McDonald family reunions in South Padre Island and on the farm in Whitesboro, TX. Coming from a large extended family on both the Barber and McDonald sides, family was very important to him. Lee loved baseball and grew up playing youth baseball at Beebee Field and attending Texas Ranger games. He continued playing catcher for the Marine Military Academy and Kemper Military School.
As an adult, Lee battled the demons of mental illness and addiction, but even so, he had a tremendous love and sense of loyalty to his family and friends. He was a deep thinker and loved to read and research about philosophy, religions, history, and even how to fix a diesel truck. He also began looking into his genealogy and loved learning about his Irish and Scottish background. He battled to the best of his ability the influence of voices, depression and addiction until the end, and his mother and sister loved him unconditionally. They were blessed with the absolute best of Lee during 2020 and 2021. They cooked together, watched shows together, played at the lake and laughed. Lee had amazing conversations with friends and family about how society needed to end the shame and stigma placed on those who fight this disease. More people would seek treatment if they felt more comfortable talking about their struggles and triumphs. Last spring, Lee made an independent decision to join the Second Baptist Church, North Campus.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Alan Lee Barber, Sr; his grandparents, Raymond and Dealey Barber; his grandfather, Jimmy Neil McDonald; uncles Kenneth Barber and James Phillips; cousins Jason Barber and Shane Barber.
Lee is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kelly and Kevin Dworaczyk; sister, Megan Barber; grandparents, Carolyn and Gary Glaser and Sharron Green McDonald; aunts and uncles, Susan and Donn Padgett, Diana and Jon Nelson, Joy and Brian Houser, Andrea and Jonathan Low, Carolyn Phillips, Delores Latham,Thelma Neil, Linda Holifield, Bill Barber, Raymond Barber and many cousins and friends.
The family would like to invite friends and family to share memories, words of love, and to celebrate the life of Lee and his new found peace on July 16, 2022 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at The Collin Club, 211 W. Collin St, Corsicana, TX.
