Weldon Troy Robinson, Sr. of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at the age of 91. He was born on October 4, 1920, in Bishop, Texas, to Grady and Lena Robinson. Weldon joined the United States Army Air Corp on December 15, 1942, where he served for three years. On New Year’s Eve, 1941, he married Shirley La Verne Richardson. Together they raised their five children in Bishop. He was the owner of Robinson Plumbing and Air Conditioning for over fifty years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #185 in Bishop, where he was a former Post Commander.
Weldon is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of thirty- nine years, Shirley La Verne Robinson; son, Weldon Troy Robinson, Jr. and three sisters: Elsie, Grace Johnson and Doris Chute.
He is survived by Wilda Brown Robinson of Kingsville; sons: Roxy (Martha) Robinson of Lockhart, Texas, Randy (Margaret) Robinson of Garden Ridge, Texas and Rick Robinson of Lockhart; daughter, Rhonda (Murry) Hatfield of Millersview, Texas; sister, Eleanor Fairchild of Stillwater, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Dinna (Andy) Tolley of Lockhart, Russell (Dana) Robinson of Bay City, Texas, Jason (Tracey) Robinson of Lockhart, Holly Holt of San Angelo, Texas, Clifton Troy Robinson of Austin, Texas, Tammie Kelly of Austin, Texas, Christopher (Lori) Robinson of Lubbock, Texas, Brandon (Minerva) Robinson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mark and (Diane) Robinson of Odessa, Texas, Greg (Cheree) Bade of Bishop, Dana (Arnold) Jimenez of Bishop, Melissa Daniel of Plainview,Texas, Logan Robinson of Teague, Texas, Lindsey (Keith) Martin of North Richard Hills, Texas; thirty-one great grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 20, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turcotte- Piper Mortuary Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Beth Tatum officiating. Burial will follow the service at Chamberlain Cemetery. There will be a reception for family and friends following the burial at the First United Methodist Church of Bishop.
