Zachary Alexander Smith

Mr. Zachary Alexander Smith, age 27, of Blountville, died Friday July 12, 2013. A native of Sullivan County, TN, Zachary was born on January 21, 1986, the son of Randy and Betty Harr Smith. He had lived his entire life in Sullivan County and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as the church pianist and taught the high school Sunday School class. Zachary was an avid animal lover, having served as a volunteer for The Bridge Home No Kill Rescue, as well as being a cyclist and saxophone player. He also enjoyed hiking and backpacking adventures. He was a 2004 graduate of Sullivan Central High School and attended Tennessee Tech. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Delmar Smith and maternal grandfather, Paul Harr. Survivors include his parents; Randy and Betty Smith. One sister and brother-in-law; Dr. Jessica Smith Keup and husband, Erik. Paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bobbie Smith. Maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edith Harr.Celebration of Life Services for Zachary will be conducted on Thursday July 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. from the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Jenny Venable and Pastor Tom Quickel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. On Thursday, Zachary will be carried to the church to lie-in-state from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet at the church on Thursday at 10:40 a.m. and they include; Tim Siggins, Chad Roller, John Smith, Erik Keup, Nathan Smith and Dwight Smith, II.
