Una Dean Smith, 86, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday (March 14, 2018) following an extended illness. Una Dean was born on April 6, 1931 to the late Walter T. & Malinda (Snodgrass) Smith in Kingsport, TN.
Una Dean has been a life-long resident of Kingsport. She graduated from Holston Institute in 1949. Una Dean worked from 1949-1999 for Sullivan County Government in different departments including the accounting department, in which she helped establish.
Una Dean was saved and Baptized at the young age of 12. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church for over 75 years as well as Eastern Star of Blountville. She was a very unselfish person, always putting others needs before her own, being a caregiver for many of her loved ones over the years. Una Dean will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Una Dean was preceded in death by her infant sister, Hilda Smith; sister, Joyce Wagner; sister-in-law, Edith Smith; and long-time friend, Fred Cox.
Left to cherish her memories are her brother, Walter Terrell Smith; brother-in-law, Joe Wagner; several nieces, nephews, and long-time friends from Sullivan County.
The family will receive friends on Sunday (March 18, 2018) from 2 to 4 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Committal services will be held following the visitation at Gunnings Cemetery (4851 TN-126 Blountville, TN 37617). Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
