Timothy Ray Shaffer

Timothy “Tim” Ray Shaffer, 47, went to be with his heavenly father during the early morning hours of Monday (August 20, 2018) at his residence with his family by his side. Tim was born on September 5, 1970 in Kingsport, TN to Billy Ray Shaffer and the late Shirley Jo (Porter) Shaffer.

Tim was raised in Hiltons, VA. He was a graduate of Gate City High School and was a member of Orebank Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading, watching Nascar Racing, UT and VT football. Tim was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to his mother, Tim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie & Annie Porter and Luke & Florance Shaffer; father-in-law, Ron Holbrook; and brother-in-law, Matt Holbrook.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 30 years, Sheri Shaffer; sons, Tim “Bo,” Logan & fiancé Roni Derossett, and Peyton Shaffer; father, Bill Shaffer; sister, Debbie Wright; brother, Wayne Shaffer; in-laws, Tommy & Ann Holtzclaw, Marty & Jennifer Stapleton, Daniel & Jessica Holbrook, and Julie Holbrook; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday (August 22, 2018) from 5 to 7 pm at Orebank Missionary Baptist Church (5930 Orebank Rd. Kingsport, TN 37664). A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 pm with Pastor David Smith officiating.
