Thelma Ruth Roller Humphrey, age 78, of Church Hill, peacefully went to be with the Lord in her sleep on Friday, October 18, 2013 at her son’s residence. Thelma was born in Kingsport, TN and retired as a cafeteria worker from the Kingsport City School System. She was a strong woman of faith and was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Humphrey and her parents, Perry and Elizabeth Roller.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Roller and his wife Patsy and son, Randy Roller; a daughter, Penny Humphrey; one granddaughter, Amanda Eller and husband Eli; three great grandsons: Dustin Arnold, Tristen Roller and Elijah Reed; step-daughter, Robin Carter; four sisters: Jimmie Lee Greene, Betty Jo Scott, Kate Christian and husband Buster, Jessie Mae Richardson; three brothers: Fred Roller and wife Margaret, John Roller and wife Margarite and Roy Roller and wife Ronda, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Roy Graves, officiating. Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Everyone is asked to assemble in the funeral home chapel by 12:45 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to send a special thanks to all of the care workers: Carrie Worley, Lindsey Powell, Kayla Winters, the hospice nurses and numerous friends and relatives that helped us care for Thelma. A special thank you to doctor Richard Reed for his special care and home visits.
