Ruth Parker Young

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23) Ruth Parker Young, 85, departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday (February 14, 2016) at Select Specialty Care, Bristol, TN. Ruth was born on May 13, 1930, in Kingsport, TN to the late Gaines & Lexie Monroe Parker. She graduated from Blountville High School and Whitney Business College. She retired from the VA Medical Center in Johnson City, TN in 1990. Ruth was a member of Bridwell Heights Presbyterian Church and loved attending church and the fellowship of her church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delaney Young; two brothers, Paul Parker and G.R. Parker; sister-in-law, Nadine Parker; and brother-in-law, Jack Hann. Ruth is survived by her step-daughter, Melinda Page & husband Jack; two grandsons, Ryan Page and Reid Page & wife Allison; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eveline Platz & husband Marvin, Roma Hann, and Velma Ketron & husband Marce; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday (February 17, 2016) from 5 to 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Ball and Pastor Patrick Hines officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday morning (February 18, 2016) at 11:00 a.m. in Christus Garden at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN. Serving as pallbearers will be Marce Ketron, Marvin Platz, Josh Ketron, Rod King, Aaron King, and Ryan Page. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders and deacons of Bridwell Heights Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Bridwell Heights Presbyterian Church (108 Bridwell Heights Rd., Kingsport, TN 37664).
