Ruby McMurray, 90, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with the Lord at Wexford House on Dec. 13, 2012. She was a very humble and caring person who was always thinking of others and was affectionately called Aunt Ruby by many. She was retired from Sullivan County Food Service. Ruby was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Scott County, VA and was the last surviving child of the late Rev. Walker McKinley McMurray and Hester Elizabeth Carter McMurray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Carlos McMurray (1980); sister, Ollie McMurray; brothers, (her twin), Rhea, Virgil, Herschel, Eugene, Junior, Frank and Rev. Grady McMurray. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Jimmy Ward of Fall Branch, Juanita and Phil Rhoten of Brentwood, Debbie and Tim Moody of Fall Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Sharon McMurray of Kingsport, grandchildren, Jamie Ward, Jennifer Rhoten, Amy Bugg and husband Konor, Michael Rhoten, Sophie Rhoten, Stephanie Moody, Travis Moody, Christine McMurray, Ashley McMurray and Megan McMurray; two special great-granddaughters, Isabella Bugg and Haven Weems. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, whom she loved as a sister, Louise McMurray, along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at East Lawn Funeral Home Saturday from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. or anytime at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, 4009 Black Oak Drive (Bays Cove) Kingsport, TN. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Horne officiating, eulogy by Amy Bugg. Music will be provided by the Bowlin Family. Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
