Brenda and family, Brian, and Erin.  For all us still here on earth that will miss him daily, I grieve with you.  For David, I'm just glad that he  is now at rest, no more pain or being held in a body that no longer worked for or with him.  I know he must have hated that.  David loved life, loved being outside, climbing, shooting pictures, taking off into the wild blue yonder.  In my mind and heart I can still see him doing that.  He had a laugh like no other, our son Rob comes closer to that laugh and every time he laughs I think of David and will continue to do so with longing to see him again.  He, Kathy, Darla, Debbie and myself were very very close growing up.  We were together quite often and always enjoyed each other's company.  He was very much my little brother, I will miss him forever.  I am so sorry that I did not make it by to see him in these last few, hard years.  Today I know there is no excuse good enough.  I should have come.  If we had do-overs that would be one of my first ones.  He was always faithful in coming by to see Mom and Dad each and every time that they were in the hospital.  He called Momma, Aunt Jack.  Our Dad, uncle Bob, took David rabbit hunting for the first time.  They did not come home with any rabbits but David was sporting a huge bruise on his shoulder from the gun hitting him.  Dad said it knocked David on his rear end.  David was sure he had shot himself.  David was very embarrassed, but they still had a full day of hunting and went several times after that.  Brenda, special thanks to you and your daughter for taking such good care of David these last few years.  There was no other place he would have wanted to be, he loved being home, always.  Brian and Erin, treasure your memories of your father.  You will miss him for the rest of your life.  I know Kat and I are still missing Momma and Daddy.  I;m sorry your children won't get to know him, he would have loved playing with them.  To David, I love you buddy.  I;m just so sorry I did not get there when you needed me.  We just all take life to much for granted.  Rest in peace.

I worked with David at Indian Path Hospital.  I remember his kind and caring ways. Always had a smile. My father died the same day and I just found out today.  May God be with this family and give them peace and love.  Denise Doty,LPN

We are very sorry for the loss of David.  He was a great friend and co-worker at Indian Path Pharmacy, and I cherish the times and experiences we had there.  He often spoke of his children and his pride for them.  You and the family are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

Sorry to hear about David.We will not be able to come to the Funeral but will be thinking of  you.Had he been sick? Know he will be celebrating Christmas in a better place.Stop by sometime if you are up in Abingdon.

It is hard to lose a good friend, even harder to lose a husband, father, grandfather.  I was saddened to hear of David's illness and his passing. Dave and I became good friends in pharmacy school at MCV/VCU in Richmond, VA, and then he encouraged me to join him at the University of Mississippi, as we both were not happy in Richmond.  My late wife, Glenda, and I celebrated with David and Laura the birth of Russ and then, over the years we lost contact with one another. I always have had good thoughts whenever I would think of Dave, our friendship, that first flight I took with him from Oxford, MS, to Memphis, TN, when we should have been in class. I will miss him and I know that his absence will leave a large hole in your lives for a long time.  My thoughts and prayers are with each of you today and every day.
