Robert Johnson Horton

Bob was an avid scouter, working with both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, a mentor to all. He enjoyed outdoor living, cooking, especially for others, hiking and participating in community service. He was a devoted Christian who was an Elder with New Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church. However, most of all, Bob was a loving husband and father.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Virginia Price Horton and his parents Nellie Ray and Robert Lester Horton.

Those left to cherish his memories include his sons, Eric Horton and wife Elizabeth and John Mark Horton and wife Jessica; daughters, Robin Henry and husband Tim and Donna Kelly and husband James; brother, Mike Horton and wife Chris; grandchildren, Morgan and Megan Horton, John Harris, Gabriel, and Albion Horton, Olivia and Eli Henry, and Hannah and Jaina Kelly; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Chris Thore and Pastor Scott Glover officiating. Military honors provided by the American Legion Posts 3/265.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
