Faye Adams Byrd, 96, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Johnson City, TN, went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 23, 2013. She was born in Fall Branch, TN on May 8, 1916, and was preceded in death by her loving husband Harry Byrd in 1999 after 57 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Adams, sisters, Mabel Cochran, Jessie Moody, Nell Addington and Annie Sue White. Survivors include her son, Ed and his wife Dawn, son Josh and grandson Ryan of Columbia, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members will miss Faye and her contagious love of life, laughter, and her infamous “Amen”.
The town of Johnson City will always remember Byrds Restaurant where Faye and Harry were like absentee parents to ETSU students. They always had a comforting hug and compassionate ear for students and faculty that came in from 1957 till 1973. The town missed them after retirement. Before those dates, their restaurant was in Jonesborough. Faye will always be remembered for her hospitality, great food and famous pies. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Fall Branch United Methodist Church Cemetery.
