Phyllis Rose Burgess, age 87 of Kingsport, TN entered into the arms of Jesus during the morning hours on Monday, February 10, 2020. Phyllis was born in Russell County, VA to Stewart and Sarah Puckett Rose. On March 25, 1952, Phyllis married Elmo Burgess and after raising a family together he preceded her in death on July 16, 1975.
Phyllis enjoyed life. During high school she was a competitive basketball player and she also enjoyed cheerleading. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and cooking. Memories of Phyllis for her family to cherish will be of taking road trips with her grandchildren (The Get-Along-Gang) and for baking her famous fudge.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Elmo Burgess; daughter, Stephanie Burgess; three brothers, Kenneth, Edsel, and Vincent; and three sisters, Delma, Beulah, and Blanche. Left to cherish Phyllis’ memory are her daughters, Kathie Moody, Lesa Williams and husband Ray, and Tammie Burgess; four grandchildren, Ray, Ryan and wife Abby, Rachel and husband Drew, Craig, and Raven; and four great grandchildren, Tyson, Carson, Reagan, and Connor.

There will be a private family graveside service for Phyllis with Brother Richard Long Sr. officiating.
