Paul was saved at an early age and was a faithful member of Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon. When he moved to Kingsport in 1983, he joined Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, where he also taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon until his health prevented him from doing so. Paul was a loving and kind father who was helpful and always gave good advice. He loved Jesus with all his heart.
Paul retired from Mead Paper after 27 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Welkie Ann and James H. Johnson and brothers James and Harmon Johnson.
Those left to cherish Paul’s memory include his wife of 59 years, Mildred Johnson; son, Ronnie Johnson and wife Gina; daughter, Teresa Wolf and husband Michael; sister, Dorothy Jean Beary and husband Bradford; grandchildren: Blake Johnson, Mishayla Hensley, Nathan Wolf and Nicholas Wolf; and great-grandson, Jonah Paul Hensley.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 8:00 PM with Elder Oscar Irvin, Elder Paul Strong, and Billy Jack Johnson officiating. Music provided by Nathan Wolf, The Smith Family, Mishayla Hensley, Blake Johnson, and Michael Wolf.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of the Good Shepherd. Military Services will be conducted by the Boone Dam VFW Post 4933.
Pallbearers will be Blake Johnson, Nathan Wolf, Nicholas Wolf, Adam Hensley, Michael Wolf, and Scott Tipton.
