Patricia Sue Hamm

Patricia Sue Hamm, 71, passed away during the early morning hours of Tuesday (December 19, 2017) following an extended illness. Patty was born on July 17, 1946 to the late Eugene Lono & Ida Ben (Powers) Nickels in Coeburn, VA.

Patty enjoyed being outdoors, camping, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. Patty was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Wayne Hamm, Jr.; and brother, Billy Jean Nickels.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving daughter, Carol Spurgeon & fiancé Todd Duncan; three grandchildren, Brandilyn Hamm, Travis Spurgeon, and Cory Moody; two sisters, Carol Ruth Sturgill and Nina Kaye Adams; two brothers, Eddie Nickels and David Nickels; special friend, Ann McKinley; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family will greet guests and share memories on Saturday (December 23, 2017) from noon to 2 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel with Pastor George Flanary and Pastor Lynn Stout officiating.

Patty will be laid to rest in the Garden of Everlasting Life III on Saturday (December 23, 2017) at 3 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
