

ORVILLE D. “DOC” MORELOCKOrville D. “Doc” Morelock, age 80, of Kingsport, TN passed away unexpectedly Saturday (November 21, 2009) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.Born in Hawkins County, TN on October 13, 1929, a son of the late Bynum and Willie Mae Jones Morelock, he was raised by Carpe Morelock and has resided in this area his entire life.Doc was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army.He retired from the Sullivan County Highway Department in 1977.Mr. Morelock attended Bloomingdale Baptist Church.The family would like to extend a special thank you to his neighbors, Helen and R.J..In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step-mother, Ruby Morelock, one sister, Lola Zimmerman, two half-brothers, Willard Morelock and Leonard Morelock, one half-sister, Beulah Morelock and one half-brother-in-law, Bill Carter.Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Madeline Henry Morelock of the home; his children, Vickie Foulk and husband Jerry of Kingsport, TN, Susie Meade and husband Ricky of Gate City, VA, Pam Nunley of Kingsport, TN and David Morelock and wife Susan of Kingsport, TN; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Foulk, Terry Foulk, Steven Nunley, Brooke Meade, Trish Morelock, Steven Blythe and Lana Blythe; four great-grandchildren, McKenna Foulk, Megan Hammonds, Alan and Ava; three half-brothers, Buddy Morelock and wife Fran of Greene County, TN, Kenny Morelock and wife Liz of Kingsport, TN and Paul Morelock and wife Barbara of Kingsport, TN; three half-sisters, Eunice Taylor and husband Perry of Kingsport, TN, Carolyn Carter of Kingsport, TN and Bobbie Jean Spriggs and husband Jack of Kingsport, TN; nephew, Rocky Buchanan and wife Carolyn; niece, Brenda Browder and husband Sam; several aunts, uncles and cousins.The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday (November 24, 2009) at East Lawn Funeral Home. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel with Brother Wayne Morelock officiating. Burial will follow graveside services at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (November 25, 2009) in East Lawn Memorial Park’s Garden of Everlasting Life. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons. Military honors will be accorded by The American Legion, Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 and members of the Tennessee Army National Guard.
