Michael Leo Buczkowske, 81, entered into the arms of Jesus during the evening hours of Saturday (July 21, 2018). Mike was born on November 27, 1936 in Illinois to the late Henry Jake & Clara Rose (Hanzie) Buczkowske. Mike married the love of his life, Norma Jean Buczkowske, in January of 1957 and after 59 years of a wonderful marriage and raising a family, she preceded him in death in 2016.
Mike was a faithful member of Mercy Seat Ministries for over 40 years. He was a barber for many years at Franks Barber Shop. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Mike was preceded in death by his son, Michael Thomas Buczkowske; two sisters, Shirley and Barbara; and four brothers, Leonard, Jake, Don, and Bob.
Left to cherish his memories are his beloved daughters, Belinda Henard & husband Jerry, and Robin Stevens & husband Donald; daughter-in-law, Vola Buczkowske; two sisters, Marjorie Ranger and Sandra Buczkowske; five grandchildren, Brandon Henard, Cody Buczkowske, Grace Stevens, Jessica Bishop & husband Dustin, and Ashley Benton & husband Jason; two great grandchildren, Tanzi and Tristan Bishop; special friends, Joe and Shannon Perry; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday (July 26, 2018) from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Odell Beauchamp officiating.
Committal services will be held on Friday (July 27, 2018) at 10 a.m. in the Garden of Everlasting Life II at East Lawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Henard, Cody Buczkowske, Dustin Bishop, Jason Benton, Shannon Perry, and Donald Stevens.
