Mary Lou Grubbs, 80, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Thursday (December 1, 2016) following an extended illness at Indian Path Medical Center. Mary Lou was born on March 28, 1936 to the late Roy L. & Anna Bell (Jobe) Overbay in Sullivan County.
Mary Lou was an antique lover. She and her late husband, Pete enjoyed doing craftsman work. Mary Lou loved to dance and loved life. She retired from Eastman after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Pete Grubbs; infant daughters, Tracy Lynn and Stacy; brother, Howard; sister, Helen; sister-in-law, Ruth; brother-in-law, Kenneth Dolen; nephew, Mark Dolen; and niece, Debbie Overbay.
Left to cherish her memories are her sister, Lillian Dolen & special friend, Gary Lambert; brother, Gary Overbay & wife Pam; two stepsons, Mike Grubbs & wife Mary Ruth Grubbs and Steve Grubbs & wife Nadine Grubbs; stepdaughter, Susan Freeman; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Virginia Broyles; nieces, Linda Dolen and Annette Norman; nephews, Josh Overbay and Rick Overbay; and several grandnieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday (December 5, 2016) from 10-11 a.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of East Lawn with Pastor Lewis B Kizer, Jr. officiating.
Entombment will follow the funeral service at 12 p.m. in Mausoleum II at East Lawn Memorial Park.
