Mary Starnes Browning, 95, of Kingsport, went to her heavenly home on March 11, 2019. Mary was born on January 24, 1924 in Scott County, VA in the Starnes Bluff Community, Slant, VA and lived the majority of her life in Kingsport, TN. Mary was a stay-at-home wife and mom most of her life. Mary loved visitors (family and friends), always wanted everyone to have a meal with her. Mary most always had a beautiful smile on her face and loved to talk. Mary loved her God and family with all her heart. Mary attended Good Shepherd Baptist Church of Kingsport, TN.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William Ben Browning, her son, William Ben Browning, Jr. her granddaughter, Misty Browning, her parents, Bartley J. Starnes and Emma Taylor Starnes, sisters, Lora Liner, Nell Egan, and Allie Depew, brothers, Willie Starnes, Eddie Starnes, and Paul Starnes.
Mary is survived by her daughters: Mildred McDavid and husband James, Betty Johnson, Lois Young and husband George, Lora Crawford and husband Jim, and daughter-in-law, Wilma Lane Browning, all of Kingsport; grandsons: Eddie McDavid and wife Amy, Matthew Johnson and wife Sarah, Michael Young and Twannia, Kenny Young and wife Candi, Tim Browning, Daniel Browning, and Jason Crawford and wife Toni; granddaughters: Sara McDavid, Nina Powers, Lisa Lovin and husband Jeff and Christy Crawford; great-grandchildren, Claudia McDavid, Cole McDavid, Elizabeth Johnson, Jessica Freeman and husband Tony, Melissa Baker and husband Mackenzie, Benjamin Powers, Matthew Powers, Ethan Young, Makala Young, Gracie Green, and Parker Young; great-great-grandchildren: Averylynn Freeman, Aria Freeman, Emery Baker, and Elliot Baker; brothers: O.B. Starnes, Bufford Starnes and wife Carolyn, Clifford Starnes and wife Mary Ann, and Mack Starnes.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating. Special music by Melissa Lovin Baker and The Perry Voices.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 1:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of the Apostles with bagpipes provided by Gary Melvin.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Eddie McDavid, Matthew Johnson, Michael Young, Kenny Young, Daniel Browning, and Jason Crawford. Honorary pallbearer will be Tim Browning.
