Lynn Allen Hobbs, 80, passed away during the morning hours of Sunday (January 21, 2018) at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Lynn was born on November 17, 1937 in Bristol, VA to the late Luther & Evelyn (Goodwin) Hobbs.
Lynn loved his church and the Lord with all of his heart. He was a devoted member of Higher Ground Baptist Church for over 20 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching Tennessee Volunteers. Lynn retired from Smith’s Transfer and also was a previous member of the Sullivan County Volunteer Fire Department. Lynn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by his infant sister, Kathleen Hobbs.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 58 years, Doris Hobbs; daughter, Susan Hartley & husband Rick; three sons, Allen Hobbs & wife Bertie, Jon Hobbs & wife Jennifer, and Daniel Hobbs; 11 grandchildren, Amber, Ashleigh, Jordan, Logan, Gabriel, Raine, Storme, Katelyn, Kasey, Brooke, and Brittany; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Strickler and Betty Ashburn & husband Joe; two brothers, Howard Hobbs & wife Marilyn and Eddie Hobbs & wife Brenda; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will greet guests and share memories on Wednesday (January 24, 2018) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Higher Ground Baptist Church (1625 Lynn Garden Drive Kingsport, TN 37665). Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Owens and Pastor Clay Austin officiating.
Lynn will be laid to rest on Thursday (January 25, 2018) at 2 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery (1839 Bluff City Hwy Bristol, TN 37620). Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Poole, Josh Hughes, Eugene Marsh, Mitchell Davidson, Gabriel Hobbs, Logan Hobbs, and Jordan Killebrew.
