Mrs. Hicks was born in Sneedville, TN. She lived in Kingsport for the past 68 years. She was a home maker most of her life. She belonged to Chestnut Grove Baptist Church but later moved her membership to Gray Freewill Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Lewis Hicks, Jr. Also her parents, Joseph and Mahala Riley. Her son, Curtis Ray Hicks, her brothers, Burkette, Homer, Curt, J.P., and Eugene, and sisters Matilda, OraLee, and Cora.
Survivors include her three sons, Ellis (Dinah) Hicks, Joe (Patty Jo) Hicks, and David (Sandra) Hicks. Surviving daughters are Nancy Sue Johnson, Cathy (Ron) Huff, and Sonja (Michael) Payne. One daughter-in-law, Dianne Hicks. She had 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 12:00 to 2:00pm on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with special family member Rev. Bo Riley and Rev. Donnie Shaw officiating. Special music provided by Mike and Dottie Lane.
Graveside service will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Christus.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Henegar, Jordan McCrary, Shannon Henegar, Donnie Clendenin, Joey Hicks, and Jacob Beasley.
The family would like to extend a special than you to Candice McCloud, who was her caregiver for the last couple of months. We were so blessed to have her taking care of our mother. Our mom loved her dearly.
