Lola “Joan” Hood, 90, of Kingsport, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 8, 2019. She was born in Greene County, TN to the late Victoria and Paulene Mullins. Joan was a longtime member of Sullivan Baptist Church. She enjoyed being outdoors, either working in her garden or camping, both of which kept her very active. Joan was a loving wife of 66 years, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Those that preceded her in death, include her parents, Victoria Adams Mullins and Paulene Mullins; sisters, Imogene Ball and Nadine Scott; and brothers, Omer Mullins and Hartsel Mullins.
Joan is survived by her husband of 66 years, Wallace E. Hood; daughter, Donna Williams and husband Scott; grandson, Jacob Russell and wife Cindy; great-granddaughter, Ashley Russell; and special friends, Johnnie Armstrong, Richard Bourne, Doyle Hensley, Phil and Jane Bowery, and Addie Pearson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00pm with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.
Joan will be laid to rest on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00pm at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of the Good Shepherd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Joan’s honor to Sullivan Baptist Church, 4152 Maplewood Street, Kingsport, TN 37660.
