Lena Mae Hickman

Mrs. Hickman was born May 17, 1928 to John R. and Della Carberry Light in Fall Branch, TN. Her birth certificate wasn’t filed until June 1st and she always said she had 2 birthdays. Mrs. Hickman was a charter member of Hickman Memorial Baptist Church, Blountville, Tenn., and attended when her health permitted.

She was employed by Modern Bakery until its closing and retired from Terry’s Potato Chips. She also had been employed at J. P. Stevens.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years James (Jay) Hickman; by her sisters, Tinny Bell Cox, Velva Littleton, Liz Andis; brother Carson Light and 2 infant brothers; granddaughter, Brandi Hickman Daniels.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and friend. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra McMurray Myers of Blountville, Tenn.; and sons, Larry Hickman and wife Rebecca of Kingsport, TN., Jerry Hickman and wife Marlene of Kingsport, Tenn., and Mike Hickman and wife Kathy of Cleveland, Va. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Emogene Light of Fall Branch, TN and Janice Hobbs of Hiltons, Va.; several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation with her family will be Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services to follow at 4:00 PM. Family and friends will gather at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 11, 2023 at the Mausoleum in East Lawn Memorial Park for graveside and entombment services. Granddaughters and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
