Paul was employed by Italian Village at Ft. Henry Mall in Kingsport. He loved his work family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. C.V. Gilliam and Eileen Gilliam, Robert and Marie Townsend, special Uncle, David Gilliam, and birth dad Kenneth Mitchell. Raised by his loving adopted father.
Paul is survived by his parents, David and Patricia Townsend; brother, Jon Mitchell; daughter, Ashley Reid; son, Ben Townsend; grandson, Landon Scott Seals; uncles and aunts, Jeff Townsend, Tony and Carolyn Gilliam, Tina Gilliam, Bill and Pam Pearce, James and Penny Hagy, and David and Sabrina Smith; and many cousins.
He was loved by his family and friends, as his parents, our lives will never be the same again. Before his declining health, he loved bowling, shopping, and hanging out with friends. Paul was our beloved son, our first-born and the first grandchild. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
“Son, it’s not goodbye, just good night. I will meet you in the morning. We love you so much. How can we live without you?”
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00pm in the chapel with Pastor James Hagy officiating.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at East Lawn Memorial Park at 1:00 pm. His cousins will serve as pallbearers.
