Joe R. Latture, age 90 of Kingsport, was called up to Heaven by his Heavenly Father on November 13, 2015. Joe was born in Scott County, VA on February 15, 1925 to the late Mr. Stuart Latture and the late Mrs. Gladys Baker Latture. On February 18, 1956, Joe married his most cherished friend and love of his life, Ms. Nell McCracken, and after 59 years of a wonderful marriage, she survives. Joe served for two years in the United States Army and served bravely during the Korean War. Joe worked for over 31 years at Eastman Kodak and he was a dedicated member of the Benhams Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. Joe also was a devout member to the American Legion Post of Bristol, the VFW Post of Bristol, the Moose Lodge of Kingsport, and the Holiday Ramblers Camping club. Joe loved camping and enjoying the outdoors; gardening and farming the land where two of his greatest enjoyments in life. Joe is survived by his dear wife, Mrs. Nell Latture; two sons, Mike Latture and his wife Tammy of Colonial Heights and Gary Latture and his wife Leslie of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Ryan Latture of Santa Barbara, CA, Lauren Latture of Chicago, IL, Zachary Latture and Emily Latture of Colonial Heights; one nephew, Cheryl McMurry; and one niece, Carolyn McPhearson. Joe is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Nell McMurry and Ruth Wheat. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. immediately following visitation in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Graves officiating. There will be a military honor’s graveside service at the Chapel of Memories at East Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the funeral service. Military honors will be provided by the Kingsport American Legion Post 2/365.
