She was born December 28, 1929 to parents, Veaulah Lea Davis Philips, and Willie B Phillips.
She was a 1948 graduate of Sullivan High School. She and her husband were both members of Bloomingdale Baptist Church where she helped for years in the nursery and teaching Sunday school. At her first occupation, she helped the Bloomingdale Ruritan start the first branch of the Sullivan County library in Bloomingdale, where she was the Librarian for several years. After leaving the role as librarian, she worked for Kroger Co. as a manager for 13 years.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and Kingsport Women of the Moose, where she served as Senior Regent. She and her husband were also active in the Jericho Shrine of Kingsport.
Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, being with grandchildren and watching the University of Tennessee Volunteers in all sports.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth F Wade, sister Velma Ketron, and brother Billy Joe Phillips.
Those left to cherish her memories are her loving daughter, Becky Mohr (Doug): Grandchildren: Dustin Mohr(Ashley), Brooke Mohr Watson (Jacob): great-grandchildren: Judah Mohr, Charlie Mohr, Aslan Mohr, and Kenlea Watson: Several special nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Special thanks to the staff at Preston Place, where she resided for 6 years, Tammy Payne, Bloomingdale Baptist Parish Nurse and Friend, Justin Meade PT and special friend, Smokie Mountain Hospice and other caregivers that helped her along the way.
A private service for the family will be held at Eastlawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 30th. Wade Childress, Interim Pastor at Bloomingdale Baptist Church will deliver the Eulogy. Pallbearers will be, Doug Mohr, Dustin Mohr, Jacob Watson, David Wade, Jeff Ketron, and Chris Ketron.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Bloomingdale Baptist Church, 3220 Bloomingdale Rd, Kingsport, TN 37660.
