Jeffery Stephen Carter

Jeffery Stephen Carter, 59, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family. He was a member of Pine View Freewill Baptist Church.

Jeffery was a loving father, son and grandfather. He was a retired diesel mechanic who loved race cars and had two dragsters of his own. Jeffery also enjoyed helping his mother run Desta Kup restaurant in Bloomingdale before her passing.

Jeffery was preceded in death by his mother, June Marie Darnell; niece, Kelly Hood; step-father, Trinkle Fogleman; best friend, David Fields; and his grandparents.

Survivors include his daughter, Armanda and husband Rev. Daniel Sutherland; sons, Stephen Carter, Jessie Hensley and wife April; grandchildren, Amelia and Cole Sutherland, Carter, Cooper, Darya and Davis Hensley; brothers, Jerry Carter, Mike Carter and wife Kim; along with several nieces and nephews.

The Carter family will gather to greet friends and share memories in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 5 pm – 7 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 7 pm with Jeffery’s son-in-law, Rev. Daniel Sutherland officiating. Committal Service and Interment will take place in the Garden of The Good Shepard in East Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. Stephen Carter, Jessie Hensley, Rev. Daniel Sutherland, Carter Hensley, Cooper Hensley, Davis Hensley and Mike Carter will serve a pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Carter.

For those who prefer donations in lieu of flowers the Carter family has requested that donations be made in Jeffery’s memory to Pine View Freewill Baptist Church 1509 Magic View Dr. Kingsport, TN 37660.
