J.C. Hicks, 87, passed away on March 20, 2019. He was born September 16, 1931 in Blountville to the late Maggie and Henry E. Hicks. J.C. retired form General Motors as a foreman after 30 years of service and had also served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was also a member of the Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of the Masons. J.C. favorite pastime was golfing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maggie McCoy and Henry E. Hicks, four brothers and three sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 ½ years, Ruth Hicks, of the home; daughter, Mary Ann Hicks-Blimline and husband Charles “Chaz”, of Rogersville, TN; grandchildren, Ashley Morrison and husband Logan of Wytheville, VA and Jacob C. Blimline of Rogersville, TN; great-grandchildren, June C. Morrison and Elsa J. Morrison, both of Wytheville, VA.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Susan Lankford officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 10:00am at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Prayer with military rites provided by the American Legion Posts 3/265 and Masonic rites by the Whiteside Lodge #13 of Blountville.
Honorary pallbearers include Larry Allen Hicks, Larry Wayne Hicks, Jimmy Hicks, David Hicks, Steve Hicks, Ronnie Ensor, Howard Tester, David Tester, Jeff Tester, Dana Tester, Kyle Tester, and Tom Holland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in J. C.’s honor to Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church, 1041 Elizabeth Chapel Road, Bluff City, TN 37618
