Hansel Wilson Carico, age 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep and entered Heaven’s Gates Thursday, March 27, 2013 at his home in Blountville, Tennessee. He was a loving daddy, papaw, uncle and brother who loved cooking for others and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Hansel was born January 1, 1940 in Wise County, Virginia to Viola Hayes and Emory Estel Carico. He moved to Kingsport in 1967 and then to Blountville in 1992. He was a member of Doran Addition Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Meade Carico; brother, Willis Carico; sisters, Frances Davis, Oneida Blevins, and Gaynell Smith.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Clark and husband Tracey of Kingsport; son, Randy and family; grandchildren, Jeremiah Clark and wife Erin of Gray; Dylan Carico and wife Krystal of Gate City; Katelyn Carico of Gate City; one sister, Jane Blevins and husband Harold of Stryker, Ohio; one brother, Donnie Carico and wife Eleanor of Bristol; special niece and “nephew” and caregivers Lena and Gale Hensley of Piney Flats; aunt, Opal Ring of St. Paul; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jamal Maatouk and all the nurses and staff at Kingsport Hematology and Oncology and also to Amedisys Hospice Services for their wonderful care and support.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 30th at East Lawn Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 8 p.m. with Dr. Roy Lester officiating.
