Glen,
Today is November the 14th, 3 months have past and we miss you so much. NO ONE will know how much I LOVE YOU with all of my heart and more. I hope you are happy and you miss us as much as we miss you. Yes my heart is still hurting because of the love I have for you and always will!!

I want thank everyone for their condolences and insight on the other side of Glen. I was always so proud of him for all his accomplishments all of life. Glen worked hard not only at his studies and work. He helped others with their problems and always tried to help them figure out a solution to their problem. He was loved by all at work.
 His daughter and I miss him so much. I loved him so much even through the ups and downs. I sure hope he realized how much we loved him. Until we meet again Glen, my first love, I will bring you some cookies just like I did when we first met.

I met Glen a short while ago.  He was a great pleasure to work with.  He had lots of encouraging words for me.  So glad to have met him. I know he touched a lot of people with his kind heart.

I am happy to have known Glen and I am grateful for the many conversations we had during our time in CCLA. Glen brought great passion, energy, and "get it done" attitude to the chess club. He will be sorely missed.

I never had the good fortune of meeting Glen in person, but I felt a certain kinship and friendship with him from our numerous email correspondence over the past few years, mainly concerned with our mutual passion for correspondence chess administration and play, and the extraordinary leadership role he took on with vigour and dedication. He will be sorely missed! My sincere condolences Patricia and Kristie at your loss. May he rest in peace. From a fellow CCLA member, and friend.

Glen was a great friend, was always there to listen and give advice. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for the family.

Our condolences. Glen was a great person whom we had the pleasure of knowing and working with at SCJ. Truly a blessing to have been part of his life.

One of the memories I have of Glen is from the day I interviewed for the Technician position that I am in today. I recall Glen saying to me on the phone that when I come for my interview there is no need to dress up. "I'm not impressed about how you dress, but how you work," Glen said.
I loved to pull pranks on Glen and likewise, he loved to pull pranks on me. 
Glen loved Kristie so much. Many times he talked about Kristie and her childhood, the drives to ETSU and how knowledgeable she is with computers and web designs. I can see from the pictures that they were very close.
Pat, I hope you and Kristie will find some comfort in all the words that have been shared. Glen was a wonderful man and a terrific group leader. 
He will be sorely missed.

Glen was a great mentor, friend, and leader.  I feel blessed to have learned from him and know him.  I will miss him very much.  My prayers are with the family.

One of the things I learned by sitting next to Glen the past 3 years was the extraordinary kindness and empathy he felt for those here at work that he had mentored and led during his career here. He had a good way of connecting with people and helping them through both technical and professional problems. One of his lasting legacies here will be the number of people he advised and guided. He will be sorely missed.

Glen was a great mentor and I was shocked to learn of his passing. He had a great way about him and was a joy to work along side out at the farm.  Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Glen was wise and always offered a helpful perspective that showed how much he cared for people and the common good.  He really made those around him better and I will miss our conversations.  To his wife, daughter, and family, please accept my condolences as he will be greatly missed.

I was surprised and shocked to read the Glen's death notice in the Racine, WI Journal Times.  We shared some time in Racine while working at Johnson Wax and have fond memories of those days.  Our condolences and prayers are with you at this time of loss.  Bob and Linda Warner

I fondly remember my gentle friend Glen from PS #29. He was well liked by everyone, teachers included. I am not surprised he earned a PhD in chemistry, and not surprised to read all the accolades in his obituary. I guess he never changed; he was a class act over 50 years ago.

I knew Glen from Hutch Tech in Buffalo,NY. He was a cornerstone of our Chess Team and an all round good guy. Sitting day after day in those chemistry lectures it's a wonder we all didn't go nuts. P-K4 Glen

Glen had been a good friend and a great mentor to me since I started working for Eastman.  When I learned about his name on paper, he was listed as a Coating Guru in the Project Charter.  I enjoyed working with him.  He not only taught me science and technology, but also provided me suggestions in many other areas.  He will be greatly missed.  My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I was Player #1 on Team Glen. All I really knew about him when he came to EASTMAN was that he was a Yankee from somewhere in deep snow country, and that I was going to work for him. Glen laughed and told the story over and over through the years that the first thing I said to him was notWelcomeor Happy to meet you---but,--- I'm from South Carolina, and I don't drive when it snows. In my experience, it was best to deal with unreasonable expectations right up front, and so it was that we began. 
I was surprised to find that beneath that New York exterior beat the heart of a true southern gentleman. He was really a man of great charity and kindness, and he cared about everybody, but it seemed to embarrass him if anyone took note of that. If he saw or felt that someone was hurting or troubled, you'd see him in a not-so-you-would notice way, making time to stop and chat or tell a joke. Quietly, he would comfort. As I watched, pretending not to see, I could not help but be impressed by his character.  
He really was brilliant---so much so, in fact, that it only took him a few winters to learn that one did not drive the Tennessee hills when it snowed.
 Our bond has endured through good times and not so good , and whether I officially worked for him or not, when I needed a little more Gravitas, he'd be my gorilla, and when he needed a really hard problem solved, I'd be his fixer. Somehow it workedmost of the time, anyhow, and though he was not blood, he was family, and so are you.

Glen was a close friend of mine at Hutchinson Central Technical High School in Buffalo, New York. Before high school, Glen attended PS School 29, in South Buffalo, where he won the Jesse Ketchum medal, for being the top scholar in 8th grade. By coincidence, my wife, the former Linda Ptak, was a classmate of Glen at School 29. She mentioned to me today that she liked Glen very much, and secretly wished that Glen would have asked her out on a date, but he never did.
I have attached Glen's senior high school photo from 1969. He signed my yearbook with the philosophical chess quote: Is P-K4 the beginning or end? I see from Glen's obituary that he kept active in chess all of his life. Glen was on the Hutch-Tech Chess Team. He was all-high 4th board (the best 4th board in the city, among the 4th boards from all of the Buffalo public and parochial schools in 1969).  Glen achieved 7 wins and 1 draw to become the top 4th board during the regular season.
Glen helped to lead our team to a perfect regular season, with a match record of 8-0, and to the highest total points of any team [281/320]. However, Because Bennett High School [268/320] equaled our match score, 8-0, during the regular season, we grappled with Bennet in a tension-filled, winner-take-all, postseason playoff match. Although Bennett triumphed, Glen played the strongest game of any player on the Hutch-Tech team, and settled for a draw in a tight game, only after three of our team players had already lost, making the match mathematically impossible to win. 
I offer my condolences to all of Glen's family and friends. He was a gentleman, scholar, and wonderful person. Even though Einstein strongly felt that God did not play dice with the universe, I wonder if God plays chess with special persons, such as Glen?

I worked with Glen a short time during his life with SCJ. Loved his sense of humor and am sure he will be missed. What we have once enjoyed, we can never loose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us. Your family is surrounded by the love of many. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Our little office suite is so empty now.  I've worked in the same office with Glen for the last 4 years.  He kept us entertained with song, dancing, trivia, joking all the time.  But yet he was one of the hardest workers you will ever meet.  I will never ever hear "Mamma Mia, that's a spicy meatball" again without thinking of him.  That was one of his favorite sayings.  I miss him everyday and will never forget him and the joy and laughs we shared.  I've kept you guys in my prayers and will continue to do so as you heal from this grief.  May God bless you.

Glen was a great friend for the last 23 years. I will greatly miss our conversations,  his quick wit and sense of humor. He made an impact on so many people. We are at a loss for words. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Glen was always '1-N Glen' to me.  In his words, he was '1-N Glen' as in 'hunk!'  He was a great colleague and I enjoyed working with him for many years.  We will miss his friendly smile.

Glen was a great brother. Shame God needed him so soon. We had some plans when life wasn't so busy. Sure gonna be missed! We had a lot of laughs and fun when we were children. He was a joy then and as an adult. I sure will miss him.

I have never met Glen but known him since late October from our chess club: CCLA.  We communicated many times through telephone and e-mails.  Since then he has always been a friend.  We were supposed to meet sometime this year, but unfortunately it will never happen.  Despite it being a short acquaintance, it seemed I've known him for years.   May he rest in peace.

Glen had been my colleague and good friend for the past 20 years. I am still at a loss; I can't believe I can't hear his calm and friendly voice anymore. He always gave me confidence, he pointed me directions, and together, we got things done. To him, work should not have been a burden; work should have been fun, mixed with laughter. The very last time we were in a meeting, I left a little bit early for a dentist appointment. The next day, he walked all the way to my office to check on me, making sure everything was OK. Glen always took care of people around him. He will be greatly missed.

Glen radiated cheerfulness, kindness and hope.  He was a brilliant and supportive coworker.  He constantly saw possibilities and was generous with patience and praise.  He had a quick easy smile and a constant twinkle in his eye.  He brought humor and perspective to every situation.  My deepest condolences to his family and his coworkers.  He will be sorely missed!!!

I worked with & for Glen over the last 20 years. Glen was a Good Man with a Good Heart. He will be missed by Many. To his family, please accept my sincere condolences.

Glen was a wonderful coworker and encourager. He will be missed by all of us who had the opportunity to work with him. I walked out after work and chatted with him regularly and always found him upbeat and positive. He will be greatly missed.

I have known Glen for the past one year and it has been such a pleasure and joy working with him. He was a great mentor, and friend and I always looked forward to our discussions. I consider myself fortunate to have known him, even though it might have been only for a short while. Glen was a kind soul and he will be deeply missed. I didn't know Glen very well, but as a "fill-in" receptionist and closing the desk most evenings, I would see Glen as he was leaving for the day. He was a very sweet and quiet man, but occasionally had some little silly remark as he would leave. I came to look forward to seeing him.
