Gary was born in Fresno, California to Afton and Lola Wilson on July 29, 1941. He spent most of his adult life living in San Jose, California with his family. He met his wife, Lynda in 1959 and they were married on June 10, 1960. Together, they raised two children, Cindy and Jeff.
As a boy, Gary helped his family with farming and was driving tractors and loading cotton gins. Gary was a humble, hard working man who left home at 16 years old to set out on his journey. He attended Bible college for several years, became a draftsman and later a sales rep for Motorola. He was blessed to retire from Motorola in his late fifties.
Gary was a follower of Jesus Christ and his faith was the essential part of his life. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He was always involved in his local church, eager to fellowship at men’s Bible study and always willing to share the Gospel with others. Gary had a servant’s heart and loved to help family, friends and neighbors with anything that was needed. He was an expert of the “honey-do” list and it seemed like there was nothing he couldn’t fix.
Gary is preceded in death by his father Afton, his mother Lola, his twin brother Larry and youngest brother John. He is survived by his wife Lynda of 63 years, his sister Delores, his daughter Cynthia, his son Jeffrey and his daughter-in-law Yvette. Also, his grandchildren Krystin and her husband Paul, Nicholas and his wife Mylien, Justin and his wife Mady and Tyler. Also, his great grandchildren Cameron, Evelyn, Shea and Luna
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on August 19, 2023 at East Lawn Funeral Home located at 4997 Memorial Blvd Kingsport, TN 37664.
