

Fred Leonard Grogg, 79, passed away on Thursday (November 23, 2017) at his home surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born on December 14, 1937 in Kingsport, TN to the late Andrew & Beaulah (Harless) Grogg.
Fred retired from Eastman in the Engineering Department after 43 years of dedicated service. He was a very accomplished musician, he loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family and friends. Fred was a loving husband, the best father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Jean Grogg; son, Verlin “Lee” Grogg; brother, Doyle Grogg & wife Connie; and twin grandsons, Adam and Brandon Gibson.
Left to cherish his memories are his three loving daughters, Debra & husband Dicky Edwards, Donna & husband Nard Gibson, and Kimberly & husband Randy Kitzmiller; three sisters, Mildred Carter, Sue Crawford, and Hope Grogg; eight grandchildren, Jeni Morelock, Justin Gray, Nard Gibson, Sara Heath, Dillon Gibson, Keisha Kitzmiller, Donavan Kitzmiller, and Brittany Minor; nine great-grandchildren; very special friend, Eve Bates; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday (November 26, 2017) in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home.
Fred will be laid to rest beside of his loving wife, Betty Jean, on Sunday (November 26, 2017) at 3:00 p.m. in the Garden of Apostles at East Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Greg Street officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Kingsport Hematology and Oncology for all of the compassionate love and care shown to Fred during his time of need.
