He was born February 23, 1932 in Scott County Virginia to Harvey and Dora Ellen Price Chapman.
He was of the Baptist faith, attended several local churches during his lifetime and had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He retired from the Hawkins County Press in 1993 after 30 plus years of service. He enjoyed fishing, working on his cars, keeping his daughters cars clean, collecting knives and listening to music. But, most of all spending time with his Family. He was a loving Husband and The Best Daddy in the World. He was a Friend to everyone he ever met.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and Brothers Clyde, Charlie, Ray and Bobby Chapman.
He is survived by his loving Wife of 68 years Effie Parsons Chapman and daughters Glenda (Jim) Carter, Cindy (Tim) Tate, Suzette (Special Son-in-Law Richard) Duncan, and Penny Chapman. An adopted Granddaughter Kaleia Godsey. Sister Pansy (Charles) Hickman and several Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Aaron Metcalf and his staff for the many years of care and concern.
Honorary Pallbearers are Richard Duncan, Tim Tate, Jim Carter, Scott Chapman and Terry Chapman.
The Chapman family will honor Earl's life with a private service at East Lawn Funeral Home.
